Catherine Bell

About Catherine

Catherine Bell’s work is multi-disciplinary ranging from drawing, sculptural installation, and performance documented on video and displayed on monitors or as photographic stills. Her practice centres on autobiographical experience and her research explores the ways in which subjectivity, reflexivity, liminality, ritualistic performance process and artistic product coincide.

Bell graduated with both a BA in art history and a Bachelor of Visual Arts (sculpture) in Queensland before completing a PhD at Monash University in 2008, when she was awarded the Mollie Holman Doctoral Medal for the best doctoral thesis in the Faculty of Art and Design.

Bell is represented by Sutton Gallery in Melbourne, and her work is held in many public collections including National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; and Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane.
