About Myfanwy
Myfanwy Hunter is a sound+visual artist, researcher+educator. As a contemporary viola and bass player she collaborates with dancers, theatre makers, visual artists and music ensembles. Her acoustic palette includes Contemporary, Classical, New Music, Improvisation and Electronic approaches to music/sound making. Myfanwy’s visual art practice encompasses works with paper, light, stenciling, cyanotypes, projection and drypoint etching. Her synthesis of sound and visual art is exemplified by her distinctive works for adapted Pianola Projector Machine. These live art installations utilise vocal adaptors, loop pedals, lights and micro sounds harvested from the guts of a player piano. Myfanwy’s current research examines rupture and rapture in creative practice. She is an active instrumental teacher offering private lessons on viola and violin at all levels.
